We are pleased to announce that in 2020, a year of so much need because of the pandemic and the resulting job losses, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Starck Real Estate exceeded its charitable donations from all of our past years. Here is a summary of our Starck Cares donations:
Food Bank Drive:
Starck raised $31,536.90 for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and $1,381.50 for the Woodstock Food Pantry. Lori Linkimer, Managing Broker in St Charles, and Aaron Starck, President, had the opportunity to visit NIFB’s massive hub facility in Geneva, and were amazed at their scale and ability through their partnerships to stretch our donated funds. Every $1 donated is worth $8 in food purchasing power, so Starck’s donation was equivalent to over $252,000 worth of groceries! The NIFB supports a network of over 900 food pantries, soup kitchens, and feeding programs, and donated over 80 million meals last year over across 13 counties. We thank all who participated in supporting this worthy cause – particularly during a tough year where there has been such great need.
Sunshine Kids with Cancer:
We had our best year ever for giving to the Sunshine Kids, raising $44,565.68 in 2020. Out of 400 BHHS companies, Starck was ranked #12 based on our Sunshine Kids giving! Of special note were the amounts given in memoriam of Bill Hibbs, a very special man, and a long-time, top-producing broker, who partnered with his wife Janet, out of Starck’s Crystal Lake office. Many Starck brokers automatically donate directly from their commission checks.
In keeping with our theme of record-breaking giving, Starck was able to donate 42,470 diapers and over $2,100 in cash donations during our 2021 drive. This was double the 2020 donation, which according to the Diaper Bank of Northern Illinois, was a record donation for their organization. We have raised the bar for next year!
In addition to these organizations, each year Starck is able to support approximately 30 other charitable and community organizations on a local office and company level.
It is with deep gratitude that we thank everyone who played a role in these giving initiatives. It is humbling and inspiring to see how you live out Starck’s core values of caring and charitable, all in the midst of a very busy and trying year. With our continued growth and record-breaking success, we are hopeful that together we will do even more next year!
